Age Spotted
Some of you might be a little jealous but skin care is never something that I have had to think much about. I never had much of a problem with zits in high school, I have a fairly even complexion and I've always had a fairly young looking face. As far as a skin care routine I don't really have one. In fact some of you will be appalled to know that I use plane old soap and water to wash my face and that include makeup removal. My skin is one of the few things that I've never worried about... until now. Not that I really have to worry. That might be a bit of an exaggeration but I am getting older. My 35th birthday is coming up and I think I'm having a bigger problem with this number than I did at 30.
I believe my attention has been drawn to this by the scar cream I need to apply because of the reduction surgery. Morning and night I shift my focus to my skin and any little marks on it. Staring into the mirror I notice new tiny lines and wrinkles around my eyes and I start to wonder my lovely skin soon be a thing of the past? The one thing that draws my attention to it most is the age spot that has appeared on my left hand. Since I'm left handed I notice it a lot. I don't know when it appeared but I have tried a few home remedies to attempt to remove it. Lemon juice with baking soda paste or mashed up chick peas did not work, in case you were wondering. I see adds for these creams that seem like miracle cures but whenever I have asked the girls that work in the cosmetic departments they have all said they don't work.
I was recently at a Norwex party and was introduced to some new lotions they have. One of these it intended to fight age spots and wrinkles so I requested a sample. I've tried to use it daily and work it into my scar cream routine. For someone who has never had a skin care regiment though this is quite hard to stick to but I'm trying. I've actually done far better than I thought I would and have at least gotten one application in each day. My impressions so far... I'm not sure. I think it has help diminish the fine lines around my eyes but I can't really tell if the age spot has lightened or not. I believe the texture of the spot has softened slightly. I suppose that's a start.
My concern is that my lovely, blemish free, clear complexion will begin to droop and sag. That my eye lids fold, my mouth will turn down more and more and I'll grow baggy pockets under my eyes. I know with somewhat dry skin this is a risk. So now my worry free skin has all of a sudden become a big concern for me. I see all sorts of labels on creams that state that they are for mature skin of someone over 35. Though I don't feel mature or for that matter 35 I do think I should start taking things a little more seriously. I'll let you know what I think of this cream when I have used all the sample. If this age spot fades maybe I'll ask for some for my birthday.

Don't buy all the crazy expensive creams and stuff. I wash with soap and water... it's natural soap that I get at Bulk Barn actually. All you need then is to tone with witch hazel (alcohol free) and moisturize with unrefined virgin coconut oil. Shea butter is awesome too. No need for the expensive stuff that doesn't work anyway and has all sorts of toxic ingredients.
ReplyDeleteI also have my first age spot on my right hand :-(
