A Grey Day

Just a light post today, I wanted to share with you a new love of mine.  I'm obsessed with grey.  I know, so exciting! But, pretty much every room in my house is painted grey, I buy grey clothing and I just got grey nail polish.  I'm looking for more and more ways of incorporating grey into my life.  Maybe I should let my grey hair come in too.  lol  Really the reason why I love it so much is that it seems like the new fresh neutral.  I can't believe it's never been this popular before.  When we moved a bit over a year ago I spent quite some time picking the perfect grey for our walls.  I didn't want it to be too cold or too warm.  I didn't want it to have a blue undertone and I wanted it to work with our unusual flooring.  I'm quite happy with the shade I found although I'm guessing Randall wasn't as pleased at me parading dozens of very similar paint chips under his nose and insisting he help me pick one.  This is my prediction, from this time forward grey is going to start to take the place of beige in home decor.

The great thing about grey is it looks good with anything.  I especially love it with bright colours or my new colour obsession peacock blue (I prefer it with a little more green than blue).  It seems that it is a shade that is gaining popularity in many places.  I'm seeing a lot of grey walls in magazines, TV shows and commercials.  I'm also seeing lots of grey in clothing.  A few years ago my go to colour was brown and almost every piece I bought had some brown in it.  After all, that was what was available in the stores mostly anyway.  It started to get a little tricky to not leave the house looking like a pile of.... well, completely monochromatic.  It seemed that I was going to have the same problem with grey, however there is a lot of bright colour pieces out now as well and I have never been afraid to mix in a little colour.

So if you are looking for a new neutral like I was maybe you could give grey a chance as well.  Some might find it dull but I think it's great.  Maybe you do too.
