God Loves Gays
There have been a few things lately that have gotten me thinking about the way that the Church and Christian people can tend to treat Homosexual people. A few weeks ago there was a service about it at our church and I was happy to hear a message of love. To be quite honest I don't really know what I think about the issue of being a practicing Homosexual and a christian however I do believe that is something that would be between the person and God. I do know that the bible does say that homosexuality is a sin but it also says that sex outside of marriage no mater who it's with is also a sin. A bit point that tends to get overlooked is also that all sin is equal in the eyes of God so my day to day sinning is just as big a problem. That is one part that frustrates me about the finger pointing that some Christan people do. They talk about, and to people that were also created just as much in Gods image as they were and say that they are damn, evil and all sorts of vulgar things. I would say that their hateful words are just as damning and evil as the acts they are condemning.
I remember when I was younger getting the impression from the church that because I am a woman I was less valuable or important than a man. That made me feel less loved by God. I thought why would God create me as a woman and then value and love me less because of it. It turned out that wasn't what the bible or God was saying but that was the interpretation of people, other Christians and some churches. It took me a long time to get straight with what the truth was and not let other peoples opinion affect my personal relationship with God. Now, I'm not going to get into the whole issue of if people are born Homosexual or not but I do believe no one would ever chose such a difficult road for themselves. I have to think that some homosexual people must sort of be treated this same way. I would hope that instead we, as Christians could show them that they are just as worthy of Gods love as any other person.
As a side note, when Jesus was on Earth the people he hung out with tax collectors, prostitutes and "sinners". Who do you think He would be spending His time with today?
I hope that I was able to express this appropriately.
