A Cure for Cancer

No really!  Watch this video.  I'll wait.   <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/TeA84udy7hY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

This was taken from an official and reputable news broadcast from Toronto, Ontario in case you are not from around here.  This video was posted over a year ago and as you might know there hasn't been more news about it.  My husband came home from work last week and said, "Did you hear they found a cure for cancer?  Everyone is talking about it at work."  That's when I decided to look it up and I found that video.  I also found this article http://www.arbitragemagazine.com/topics/science-technology/cancer-3dca-4world-7debut/  I wasn't able to find when it was posted but there is a comment attached from 11 months ago.  I'm not sure why it's all of a sudden being talked about at my husband's work right now but I do remember hearing something about this before.

It seems that due to the lack of more news coverage and information available that this advancement has either received some funding and is still studying OR the advancements have been squelched by the big drug companies.  Either possibility is entirely possible.  I hope for the former.

My husband mentioned the point that cancer research is the number one employer in the United States.  I'm not sure if I believe that.  When I googled the largest employer in the US it came up as Walmart.  That I believe although it was only a list of private companies and cancer research would be harder to quantify since it would be so diverse.  I am sure that there is a large number of people employed in this field however and I do realize that a cheep cure would mean the loss of jobs and livelihood for a great number of people but what is more valuable?  Livelihood or lives?

I am hopeful that the research continues and that something with such promise would not be swept under the table in favor of finding something more expensive and less effective down the road.  Maybe Walmart can just start selling cancer treatment and the researchers can just work for them.  I mean Walmart already sells (and undercuts the cost) of everything else.  Why not?
