Charge it!

What is it about September that makes me think I have free reign to spend as much money as I would like?  Normally I'm fairly reserved, thrifty and somewhat reluctant to make purchases but once fall is on the horizon the purse strings loosen up.  I think it's a back to school thing.  The seasons are starting to change, warmer cloths need to be purchased and supplies must be had.

Though I maintain my thriftiness throughout the process I think I have gone a little wild with my budget this year.  I just keep wanting STUFF!  Shoes have never been quite as much a draw to me as they have to some other women I hear but shoes are holding a great appeal to me lately!  Maybe it's that the trends are matching up with a little more of my personality now or it could have to do with my new attitude towards wearing heals.  I used to be a sneakers all the time sort of girl but as of late it's heals all the way.  Possibly this is an indication that I am more comfortable with being tall and have decided, to heck with it, I'll tower over a few people and that's okay.  The heals this season are SUPER high too so if you are around me some time soon you may have to look up, look way up, to see me.  Well, that might be a bit of an exageration, I'm not really THAT tall.

Cloths are another back to school must buy item, of course but am I going back to school?  Even though I might feel like it, NO.  Are my new bright orange skinny jeans going to impress the other moms on the playground dropping off their kids?  Hopefully  I really don't care what what everyone else thinks about how I look.  If you believe that this must be the first one of my blogs you've read.  I can tend to excuse my purchases because I do really find good deals.  I buy on sale, I shop around and I'm not afraid of used.  I got both kids a lot of cloths on the weekend and I spent $100 and got 24 items.  So what does that make me say to myself, "I saved so much money it's okay for me to buy that totally frivolous and unpractical pair of red snake skin 5 inch heals."

Fashion is not the only thing vying for my money these days.  I'm also spending more money than I should on groceries.  I'm not saying that I'm spending extra money buying all organic, Ontario grown, hormone free food ether.  I'm buying crap!  Back to school means easy for school lunches items.  Things like granola bars, packaged gummies, rice crispy treats, extra yogurt and little apple sauce cups.  Okay, so those last 2 are healthy choices and my daughter does eat reasonably healthy foods but giving myself freedom to buy things like that has seemed to open the flood gate on what I deem acceptable food options.  We have pop (not something we normally keep around the house), muffins (they were on sale!), cherry pie (but it's my husband's favorite and also on sale), and my very own personal weakness that I attempt to keep far, far away from the house, chips.

It would be one thing if I was only splurging in only one aspect.  It would also be another thing if I didn't have a somewhat limited budget.  Now however, it's a little much.  I must batten down the hatches!  Now that school has officially started and I'm sort of getting into the swing of things it should settle down...I hope.  But until then, I have a super cute pair of snake skin print skinny jeans to tide me over and after all, they were ONLY $25.  lol
