I'm Not Allowed To Tell You What This Post is About

You know when someone tells you they aren't allowed to tell you something and it just makes you want to know about it all the more? That is what happened to me last Saturday. There was one of the ViSalus scientists talking about some of the ingredients in the flavor mix ins. He mentioned phytonutrients and then informed us that they are really great but the government doesn't allow them to tell us what they do. This made me very curious of course. So off I went to google! This is the web site I found.

It was a very intriguing read! It made me very happy that they thought to include this ingredient in the mix ins. I think I will have to be more diligent about using my flavor mixes. It also reminded me of a cancer treatment that was being taken by someone I know. She was getting very high dose vitamin C injections. This has been found to help greatly in being able to fight off cancer. The problem with it is it's cheep and drug companies will not benefit from a cheep "cure". This means no research goes into it and any benefits are not studied. I can see why there would be an interest in keeping the benefits of phytonutrients quiet for the same reasons.

When I think about the drug companies and their control over what they believe warents attention and what doesn't it tends to make me a little annoyed. There was a movie I watched a few years ago, it's not what you would call a blockbuster action movie but it was really informative and interesting. It was a look into the world of drug research and approval. The movie was called Living Proof and it is based on the true story of making Herceptin. Herceptin is a treatment for breast cancer that has had amazing results. If you get a chance to watch it the movie, please do. I believe you can watch it on youtube and I think it will change the way you see the medical system and drug companies like it changed mine.

I am definitely glad though that there are scientists that are looking at these cost effective and healthy ways of giving our bodies the things we need to work for us. I hope some day all companies will start to look more at what works rather than what will make them the most money.
