Two Steps Forward, One Step Back.
So I'm back from my trip to Rhode Island and I had a FANTASTIC time! Jubilee (my Latasia jewelry conference) was inspiring, encouraging and just a whole lot of fun! I'm really excited with the changes that they have made, the new prices and the incredible new pieces. It was really nice to be away on my own with other women and enjoy some shopping, great conversation and meet some new friends. The food was great as well!
Ahhhhh, food. I do love food! This is one of the reasons I was worried I would pack on some weight while I was away. I was careful to bring my shakes and was faithful in taking them the whole time I was away. Thankfully this means I wasn't eating McDonald's for the whole drive down and back. I shudder to think how much I would have gained if I did that! lol We did, however go to a restaurant many will be familiar with that I was not. The Cheesecake Factory. If anyone really knows me they will know that my favorite food of all time is cheesecake. You can't go to someplace that is known to have some of the best cheesecake ever and not have a piece.... or two. lol I must admit, I did indulge. After dinner that night of a half a mushroom swiss burger and some of a fantastic salad I ordered myself a piece of Chocolate peanut butter cheesecake. It was a little slice of heaven on a plate!
Deserts were plentiful while I was away. I managed to avoid anything to decadent on the second night but I did have a Chocolate mousse tulip at the gala night. For our final night we went out to a little seafood restaurant down the street from the hotel. My walnut crusted Talapia with sweet potato couscous was delicious but a few of the people I was with do not eat seafood at all so after we were finished we traipsed off to the Cheesecake factory again. I really hummed and hawed about having some cheesecake that night but since I have very little will power and reasoned that I am never around a place like this it would only be right to have another piece. This time I tried the Red Velvet cheesecake. I did learn something from that experience. I think I actually prefer regular red velvet cake to a red velvet cheesecake, but it was still really good.
I must also note that about 4 days before we left for Jubilee I did another 5K training run. This was the run where I hurt my knee. I still am feeling a bit of pain in it. Enough that I haven't been able to get in anywhere close to the approximate 5 hours a week of exercise I have been getting for the last 3 or so months.
So the combination of lack of exercise and overindulgence in bad food and cheesecake I assumed would be deadly! When I got home I weighed myself and found that I had indeed gained about 3 or 4 lbs but that's not as bad as I had expected. I then did my measurements and was surprised to discover that they had not gone up with my weight fluctuation.
This morning, the 4th day since I've been back home, 3 of those 4 lbs have dropped back off despite my minimal exercise. I'm really pleased and excited about the results I've received from using ViSalus and I'm surprised by the energy level difference I've experienced. I feel more healthy than I think I ever have and I know I am building good muscle mass as well.
My parents are starting up with their own 90 day challenge now and a few friends have begun their journey as well. I'm really happy that I will be able to share this fantastic transformation with them and help them on their journey to a healthier life! I'll keep you posted on not only my progress but theirs as well.
