Let Me See You Smize
I have a guilty pleasure to confess to. I watch America's Next Top Model. I know it's a terrible show but I find it quite entertaining. Mostly I watch it for artistic quality of the pictures they take of the girls. I also watch it on line after the fact so I am able to skip some of the house drama with the childish cat fights but I do enjoy some of overreaction of emotional girls. Another part I find immensely entertaining is Tyra herself. She says and does some of the most crazy and off the wall things that it's like looking into the brain of a fashion schizophrenic. I'm not sure why this amuses me so much but there is just something about Tyra that is so egocentric and off the wall that is quite funny. She has however gone to far. She has written a book called Modelland that she worked into the show last season (because the show is in fact all about Tyra) and I got the idea that this fictional book that I thought might be intriguing for the same reasons that I like the show... Tyra's made up words, her vague and unintelligible advice for the girls and the strange way she manages to turn everything around to herself.
I would never go so far as to buy the book, don't worry your pretty little head about that. I did however do a quick goggle search to see if I could read it on line. I managed to find a sight that had most of it but randomly a page or 2 would be missing. This made absolutely no difference to the story. I have read a lot of bad stories in my day. Novels that I have pushed my way through since there is usually some redeeming quality. I wonder if the main character is able to make it or the basic concept behind the story might be sound but not voiced particularly well. I don't know that I have ever not finished a book I have started... until now. I had read reviews of the book and not one person who has written a review has managed to finish the book either. I had thought they were exaggerating or were being to hard on poor Tyra but no, they were not and now she it continuing to inject the book into the show. I think it was 2 weeks ago (once again I don't watch the day they air) she gave all the models Super (model) hero alter egos with strange made up names like Gamatronica, Girl Next Doorgia and 30-Never. This could be the straw that broke the camels back. Although I will still be sad to not hear the random melt downs of girls that are getting their hair coloured or hearing their sob stories about being made fun of all the time for being skinny and tall and why is it that almost every one of them claims to be dyslexic? Tune in next time to see if I can Smize my way out of this mess.
