A Call For Action
There is something that I should have talked about here long ago but I have been avoiding it. I wasn't sure how I should tackle this subject and I also wasn't sure if I should but enough is enough. I have decided that the need is greater than my opposition so here goes.
I have a cousin who is very sick. His name is Mark Lewis and he was diagnosed last year with Angiosarcoma, a rare type of cancer. He could really, really use your prayer. He is married with two young boys. He has had surgery to remove his spleen where the cancer was detected and though they believed they got it all he discovered in July that it had returned and spread. Chemotherapy and radiation are no longer effective and it seems the only treatment option available to him is in a hospital in Mexico where he will receive immunotherapy.
So why have I been reluctant to talk about this previously? The answer is somewhat complicated. My family has been somewhat estranged from him through a number of unfortunate circumstances that we all desperately wish could have been avoided. I was unsure if I spoke about him in this forum if it would seem like I was faining a closer relationship with him, that I was looking for some type of sympathy or that I was attempting to sway support for my families "side" in the dissension between the two families. That is not my intention and all I will say is that we all love Mark (and his brother Adam) very much and we wish only the best for them. We pray for them, that they will be happy, healthy and loved. We are so grateful for the support and the multitude of people that have been surrounding Mark with their generosity and encouragement.
So with that I would ask that you could all add Mark to your prayers. Please pray for the guidance of the medical professionals he is in contact with, the support that he needs for the treatments that are recomended, for his family to have peace, strength, encouragment, hope, love and joy even in the face of uncertainty and please pray for a recovery. I have seen first hand that the Lord can bring healing even in situations that seem beyond hope.
Also, there has been a t-shirt designed that is being sold to raise funds for him to get his treatment in Mexico as well as showing Mark we are here to support him. If you are interested in purchasing one you can contact me and I can add them to the order I will be making. In addition, there is an account in which monetary donations can be directly deposited if you were interested.

I know there are a number of amazing prayer warriors on my FB friends list so I ask you to please add a prayer for Mark.
Thank you. And Mark (and Adam), know we are thinking about you more than you will ever know.
